A good sample letter (adjust for your situation):

Dear Senator Isakson,

Please, please, please vote NO on the AHCA. My son has a rare genetic condition and is medically fragile. He relies on Medicaid to receive the necessary medical care he needs to be able to live at home with us – his family.

Without Medicaid, my son will most likely need to be institutionalized – a cost much greater to the state than if I am able to continue to care for him at home.

My son is not a statistic or a line item in your budget. He is a sweet, little boy who has a disability he did not ask for.
I am not looking for a handout for my child. We are hard working, tax paying citizens who happen to have a child with a disability. The bottom line is that we need to protect the most vulnerable people and our families.

Please vote NO against any bill that supports cuts to healthcare – especially those with disabilities. These bills are short sighted and will ultimately end up costing the state more money. The average cost per year for state institution care is $172,280 as compared to $28,901 per year for medicaid waivers to keep disabled individuals like my child at home with his family.

Please. I need to keep my son at home and be a part of our family. Please vote NO on AHCA.

Respectfully,
