A Poem of Our Times

Barking Man coughed
And Rocket Man launched
Reining havoc on a world gone insane
While the two men walked on
Twined arm and arm,
Untouched by suffering and pain.

Whoops said one.
Never mind said the other.
Not your fault said the first.
Of course, said the other.
Men like us need not bother their heads
With the plight of the poor and profane.

To keep us in power
Is all that matters,
I sure you agree with me.
A nation in tatters is a small price to pay.
When men such as us, so handsome and strong
Rule the land, and air, and the sea. –  Joan O. King
