Donald Trump’s misogynistic campaign that resulted in his election sparked the largest grassroots movement in decades. The “Women’s March” a worldwide protest held on January 21, 2017, was the largest single-day protest in U.S. history. Let that sink in, larger than the anti-war marches of the 1960s, larger than the civil rights march on Washington or the Million Man March. I was one of those millions who went to Washington on Jan 21 along with every woman in my family, my son participated in a march in LA, along with nearly one million Angeleans. We were fired up and ready to take action against an unqualified, bigoted, narcissist who had just been sworn in as President. The question was would that march inspire action and would that momentum last? That question was answered across our nation this week when on Nov 7, 2017 women won mayoral races, won eleven of 15 seats held by Republican men in the Virginia House, and numerous other state and local elections. Tuesdays results should inspire every woman that has felt helpless this past year as we have watched our President and the GOP Congress roll back decades of protections on every issue near and dear to us. We have come too far to go back and as strong women we will don our Pink Pussy Hats and never give up or give in. NOW is our time.
